An antique French, Empire period, chest of drawers, circa 1820's. The solid wood body is painted in a French grey/blue which has an interesting, textured, age distressed patina showing some of the gesso painted base and original wood beneath. The piece has some period ormolu intact, featuring bronze female busts above the columns, a classic motif inspired by the Napoleonic return from the Egypt Campaign. The piece has eight bronze, ormolu handles featuring fine casting. The sturdy piece makes for a classic silhouette of the period.
