Sourced in Italy, this bed is a one off, Venetian style bed frame, circa 1940's. It is a rare size find for its age as it it takes a large mattress size of 76' x 80' ( US King Size /193 x 203cm's). The bed features relief carving of rococo inspired scrollwork and acanthus leaves, gilded with a traditional Italian Mecca Silver finish that has now aged to reveal some of the original gesso work and wood tones beneath. The hand painted Venetian style paintwork features nature inspired depictions of roses and birds of fancy in the lively, Adriatic colours of cerulean blue and rose pinks. The bed conveys a happy & uplifting effect. We supply hand made Divan bases and mattresses on request.
