Terms Of Hiring

La Maison London – Furniture Hire Terms & Conditions 

1. Definitions

“Company” refers to La Maison London.
“Hirer” refers to the individual or entity hiring goods from the Company.
“Goods” means all items supplied for hire by the Company.
“Hire Period” means the period from delivery/collection until the Goods are returned and inspected.
“Order” means the Hirer’s request for Goods, confirmed in writing by the Company.
“Force Majeure” means any event beyond the reasonable control of either party.


2. Basis of Contract

2.1. All Orders accepted by the Company are subject to these Terms & Conditions.
2.2. By placing an Order, the Hirer agrees to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
2.3. Orders are only confirmed once acknowledged in writing (including by email) by the Company.


3. Ordering & Contact Information

3.1. The Hirer must provide a formal Order confirmation with full contact details, delivery/collection information, and any access or logistical constraints.
3.2. The Hirer must notify the Company of any collection/delivery requirements or restrictions at the time of Order.


4. Payment Terms

4.1. Full payment in cleared funds is required prior to collection or delivery of Goods.
4.2. No Goods will be released until payment is received.
4.3. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
4.4. Late payment may result in cancellation of the Order and forfeiture of any deposits.
4.5. In the event of a payment reversal, chargeback, or dishonoured transaction, the Hirer remains fully liable for the outstanding amount and any associated fees.


5. Hire Charges

5.1. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, hire charges are as follows:

  • Week 1: 15% of the item’s replacement value

  • Week 2: 5%

  • Week 3 onward: 2.5% per week
    5.2. Minimum hire period is one week unless otherwise specified.


6. Transport & Delivery

6.1. The Hirer is responsible for transport, courier, and handling arrangements unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6.2. The Hirer is liable for failed delivery/collection fees, parking charges, or reattempts.
6.3. Delivery/collection times are estimates; the Company is not liable for delays due to circumstances beyond its control.


7. Insurance & Risk

7.1. The Hirer must arrange and maintain insurance cover for all Goods at their full current retail replacement value with a reputable UK-based insurer for the entire Hire Period, including periods of storage, transport, and use on location. 
7.2. Proof of insurance must be provided prior to release of Goods; the Company may withhold delivery if not evidenced. The Hirer shall ensure insurance cover extends to storage, transport, and use on location.
7.3. Risk in the Goods passes to the Hirer upon collection/delivery and remains until the Goods are returned and inspected by the Company.


8. Care, Use & Liability

8.1. The Hirer must keep Goods in safe custody, in good condition, and use them only for the agreed purpose.
8.2. Goods must not be altered, polished, or reproduced without written consent.
8.3. All identifying labels must remain intact.
8.4. The Hirer is liable for any loss, theft, or damage (including accidental) and must notify the Company within 24 hours of receipt and within 24 hours of any incident.
8.5. Minor wear from normal handling is accepted; structural, surface, or fabric damage beyond fair use will be chargeable.
8.6. All repair or replacement valuations are at the Company’s discretion. Assessments will be documented, and photos may be used as evidence for claims.
8.7. In the event of loss or damage (including theft or irreparable harm) to any hired item, the Hirer shall pay the full current retail replacement value of the item as determined by the Company, or, if repairable, the full cost of repair. Compensation is due within 5 days of notification. The Company’s assessment of replacement or repair value shall be final and may be supported by documentary or photographic evidence.
8.8. The Company’s liability is limited to direct loss or damage to Goods supplied. The Company does not accept liability for indirect, consequential, or special losses (e.g., lost production time, reputational damage).


9. Returns, Late Fees & Uncollected Goods

9.1. Goods must be returned promptly at the end of the Hire Period, in the condition supplied.
9.2. All Goods will be inspected upon return. Any issues will be reported within 48 hours.
9.3. Late returns are subject to daily hire charges at the prevailing rate.
9.4. The Hirer is responsible for ensuring Goods are returned in person or by a reputable courier.
9.5. If Goods are not returned within 30 days after the end of the Hire Period, the Company may charge storage fees and/or dispose of the Goods. The Hirer remains liable for all outstanding charges and any loss incurred by the Company.


10. Termination & Cancellation

10.1. Either party may terminate the contract with one week’s written notice.
10.2. Upon termination, all outstanding invoices become immediately due, and all Goods must be returned without delay.
10.3. Orders cancelled less than 48 hours prior to scheduled collection/delivery may incur a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the hire charge.


11. Intellectual Property & Publicity

11.1. All Goods remain the property of the Company at all times.
11.2. The Hirer shall provide an on-screen credit to “La Maison London” in the end credits of any production in which the hired goods are used, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The Hirer may reference the Company and use images of the Goods in production materials, press, and publicity related to the production. Upon public release of the production, the Company shall be entitled to request a reasonable selection of images or footage featuring the Goods for its own portfolio, website, and marketing purposes, provided such use is in the context of referencing the production.

11.3. This agreement does not assign or license any intellectual property rights to the Hirer.



12. Data Protection

12.1. The Company processes all personal data in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR.
12.2. Client data will only be used for fulfilling Orders and will not be shared with third parties without consent.


13. Force Majeure

13.1. The Company will not be liable for failure to perform obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to fire, flood, strikes, pandemics, cyber-attacks, or government action.
13.2. If a Force Majeure event continues for more than 30 days, either party may terminate the contract with immediate effect.


14. Assignment

14.1. The Hirer may not assign or transfer their rights or obligations under this contract without the Company’s written consent.
14.2. The Company may assign or subcontract its rights and obligations at its discretion.


15. Severability

15.1. If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.


16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

16.1. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
16.2. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.


17. Acceptance

17.1. By placing an Order, the Hirer confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions in full.


18. Amendments

18.1. No amendment or variation of these Terms & Conditions shall be valid unless made in writing and agreed by both parties.
