Evoking the gallantry of courtly life, the Chevalier bridges the playful flourishes of Louis XV with the poised elegance of Louis XVI. Its form is refined, its lines balanced: delicate fluting, subtle ornament, and a harmony of proportion. Every element is hand-crafted with care — from the standing wave motif, a French interpretation of Greek ornament, to the pine cone finials, symbols of vitality and continuity.
Shown here in a hand-painted two-tone finish, the carving is highlighted to enhance its intricacy, then completed with a light antique patination to lend textural depth and play of light.
The headboard is woven in traditional cane, gently antiqued for warmth and softness. An upholstered version is also available, requiring 2 metres of plain or 2.5 metres of patterned fabric.
What makes Louis XVI beds so enduring is their ability to sit comfortably in both traditional and contemporary interiors. With its clarity of form, the Chevalier is designed to celebrate this versatility.
Each bed is made to order, with bespoke sizes and finishes available to create a truly personal piece within this timeless design.
