This early 1900s French Louis XVI-style giltwood headboard, sourced in France, features a finely carved frame with bold stylised laurel foliage and a shaped crest, reflecting a Provincial interpretation of the Louis XVI aesthetic. The giltwood retains its original water-leaf gilding, beautifully aged over time. Warm tones from the bole beneath are revealed while the gilding retains its luminous sheen speaking to the quality of the original craftsmanship. The carving and natural warmth of the frame are perfectly complemented by the newly reupholstered silk lampas fabric by Watts 1874. This elegant textile, produced by the historic British house renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and archival designs. Both decorative and architectural in feel, this headboard works beautifully as a focal point within a layered bedroom scheme, equally suited to classical interiors or contemporary spaces seeking contrast, warmth, and character through materiality and form.
