This turn-of-the -century antique bed which was made to take a large mattress size, is from Florence, Italy and is made in the Rococo style. The bed frame features lyrical curves accentuated by a beveled line work that enhances its flowing design. The footboard rests on four tall cabriole legs, each ending in scrolled feet. The hand carved decorative adornments on the bed include naturalistic flowers, leaves and an elegant rocaille shell crowning the headboard. All these details, along with beveled line work, have been hand gilded to emphasize the bed's graceful beauty. The bed's original hand painted colour is a warm white. The complimentary the gold leaf, which has aged over time, captures the light with a warm glow. The bed is newly upholstered in a heritage silk damask fabric by Lelievre.
